J�SV Of <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />+J� M Mews <br />�rF•OF NF'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOMELESS TASK <br />FORCE FOR ITS OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS. <br />WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br />is to provide outreach and engagement services to address homelessness in our community; and <br />WHEREAS, outreach and engagement are essential services that inform and provide our <br />un-housed population with options for safe -haven housing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation <br />services, and family reunification; and <br />WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is working in collaboration with social service <br />organizations, the Hawaii Police Department, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, hospitals, <br />churches, businesses, and other agencies to actively engage with this target population to address <br />the increase in criminal activity and improve the lives of those without homes; and <br />WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is requesting funds to help defray the costs necessary <br />to support its outreach and engagement, which include fees for acquiring birth certificates and <br />personal identification, as well as purchasing trash bags, gloves, food, hygiene products, <br />clothing, diapers, baby food, gas, medical equipment and supplies, temporary emergency <br />housing cost, and transportation cost; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the <br />criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other <br />agencies and the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Homeless Task Force for its outreach and engagement <br />efforts. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
