OFM, COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 690 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KAHALU'U KfJ,&HEWA FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND REVITALIZATION OF THE WAHI KfJPUNA KAHALU'U FIELD SYSTEM. WHEREAS, Kahalu'u KUdhewa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created with the vision to revitalize the wahi kiipuna (ancestral site) Kahalu'u Field System as a traditional Hawaiian agricultural landscape and to reconnect kdnaka to 'dina; and WHEREAS, Kahalu'u Kiidhewa is working together with the community to perpetuate ancestral knowledge that reconnects kdnaka to 'dina through indigenous grassroots initiatives and sustainable restorative agricultural practices at the wahi kiipuna Kahalu'u Field System; and WHEREAS, Kahalu'u Kadhewa is requesting funds to pay for agricultural equipment and supplies (fuel, fertilizer, compost, soil, grass cutting line, maintenance tools, and pots), weed management materials, fencing materials, water catchment supplies, community engagement materials and supplies, and portable lua expenses; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public in a drug - and alcohol -free environment, such as the maintenance and revitalization of the wahi kfipuria Kahalu'u Field System; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIJ that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kahalu'u Kfidhewa for the maintenance and revitalization of the wahi kiipuna Kahalu'u Field System. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
