X11 0 0 1 *we] a so A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KOHALA HERITAGE CENTER FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich and diverse history of North Kohala; and WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center achieves its goals by building generational bridges through oral history programing, public displays, and archiving of historical material in a climate -controlled room; and WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center is working to finish and outfit its Public Educational Center, previously known as the Bond Library, with various equipment for the community; and WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center is requesting funds to purchase an iPad, Samsung TV, Macintosh laptop, and a display case for historical document and book presentation; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support organizations that keep our communities safe and strong through drug- and alcohol -free environment such as the Kohala Heritage Center; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kohala Heritage Center for expenses relating to its Public Educational Center.
