JM�-1 OF.il <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />OF <br />RESOLUTION NO. 710 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEAUKAHA ONE <br />YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TO SUPPORT ITS HILO MURALS PROJECT. <br />WHEREAS, Keaukaha One Youth Development (KOYD) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose mission is to help underprivileged Native Hawaiian youth to reveal their <br />individual strengths and passions to build leadership skills, self-esteem, motivation, and positive <br />relationships for future career and academic success; and <br />WHEREAS, KOYD has established a collaboration with Temple Children, which is an <br />arts and sustainability organization that strengthens communities and activates conversation, to <br />create two murals in Downtown Hilo - on the historic Hilo Plaza Building and the Agasa <br />Furniture & Music Store; and <br />WHEREAS, murals play a vital role in encouraging community pride, beautifying urban <br />spaces, expressing historical and cultural identity, raising awareness about social issues, and <br />inspiring creativity and wonder; and <br />WHEREAS, KOYD is requesting funding assistance to digitally document this project, <br />which includes the equipment rental and artist expenses for the documentarian; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />are in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support drug -free and alcohol - <br />free events for the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Keaukaha One Youth Development to support its Hilo <br />Murals Project. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
