Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Bill No. 222, reports
as follows:
Bill No. 222, transmitted by Mayor.Mitchell D. Roth, via Communication No. 1124, dated
October 10, 2024, Repeals Ordinance No. 10-2, which amended Section 25-8-3 (North Kona Zone
Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition),by
changing the district classification from Agricultural—5 Acres (A-5a) to Single Family Residential—
10,000 square feet (RS-10) at Kahului 2nd,North Kona, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map
Key: 7-5-017:042(Planning Director Initiated) (Area: 14.437 acres).
The Leeward Planning Commission forwards its favorable recommendation to revert the State Land
Use Boundaries Map district classification to Agricultural and the Zoning district classification to
Agricultural 5-acre. This property is located on the south side of Hualalai Road, approximately 0.6
miles east of its intersection with Queen Ka`ahumanu Highway.
Deputy Planning Director Jeff Darrow, and.property owner Ed Rapoza were in attendance.
Mr. Darrow gave a brief summary of the bill and Mr. Rapoza stated his agreement with the same.
Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Bill No. 222, and recommends its passage on first reading.
