Subject: TAR Ownership
Dear Members of the County Council,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the proposed limitations on Transient
Acc.ommodation.Rentals(TARs) ownership structures in Bill 121. Restricting ownership to natural
persons related by blood, adoption, marriage, or civil union could have severe financial repercussions for
me.
My property is owned jointly with a close friend through a legal partnership. This arrangement has
allowed us to manage the property effectively and share the financial responsibilities. The proposed
amendment would force us to dissolve our partnership, potentially leading to legal disputes and
significant financial losses.
Restructuring ownership is not a simple or inexpensive process. The legal fees and potential tax
implications could create a financial burden that we are ill-equipped to handle.Additionally, the
uncertainty surrounding these changes could negatively impact the value of our property.
I urge you to consider the diverse ways in which people responsibly own and manage'properties.
Imposing such restrictive ownership criteria could inadvertently harm residents who are contributing
positively to our community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Ken Andrews
