Subject: Short term rentals = " I am writing to express my concerns over the proposed limitations on Transient Accommodation Rentals, ownership structures in Bill 121. Restricting ownership to natural persons related by blood, adoption, marriage, or civil union could have severe financial repercussions for me. My property is owned jointly with close friends. This arrangement has allowed us to manage the property effectively and share the financial responsibilities. The proposed amendment would force us to dissolve our partnership, potentially leading to legal disputes and significant financial losses. Restructuring ownership is not a simple or inexpensive process. The legal fees and potential tax implications could create a financial burden that we are ill-Oequipped to handle. Additionally, the uncertainty surrounding these charges could negatively impact the value of our property. Over the years that we have owned this property, we have hired and in some cases are monthly reoccurring bills for Landscaping, pool maintenance, house repairs, maid service, pest control, tree trimming, solar equipment repairs. If the property is not in use by prospective renters, the electricity would be far less, garbage service far less, water use far less, all the people we employ will be out of work and potentially collecting unemployment by the state of Hawaii. They will all have hardships should you proceed with this bill. I urge you to consider the diverse ways in which people responsibly own and manage properties. Imposing such restrictive ownership criteria would inadvertently harm residents who are contributing positively to their prospective communities. Thank you for listening, Vicki Shannon Andrews 360-921-9270 Comm. No. •• sqc, Ref.To: 1 Ref. rote —
