It is well known that this industry contributes over$1.1 billion to the big islands economy. Given this significant contribution, it seems highly inappropriate to regulate such a vital sector without first conducting a thorough, w, and academically rigorous economic impact study. During the Leeward Planning Commission meeting, which lasted over 8 hours, you agreed to conduct this necessary study. This commitment highlights the complexity and the potential ramifications of Bill 121 on our community and economy. Therefore, I strongly urge that the bill be sent back with the reconciliation to undertake this study and rework its language to ensure it accurately reflects the needs and concerns of all stakeholders involved. Furthermore, it is crucial that a member of the vaccination rental industry to be included in discussions when the commission engages in questions and answers. The lack of industry representation is a significant factor contributing to the public's frustration and opposition to this bill. Including industry voices will provide valuable insights and help create a more balanced and effective legislative process. Losing my ability to rent my ohana down stairs on Airbnb, will cause great financial hardship, and do nothing to create permanent housing, I would never rent it out full time to anyone, it would stay empty until my family comes over.
