Subject: Please do not pass nonconforming amendment to Bill No. 121 „
7,4
Dear Honorable Hawaii County Council Members;
I just found out the below from my neighbor. p=-.
PLEASE The amendment to Bill 121 of the just added nonconforming use amendment should not pass.
Eliminating these nonconforming homes is detrimental to the community and will not increase housing
as majority of these homes are oceanfront, and if eliminated from the transient accommodation rentals
shall not be rented to locals of Hawaii as they are very expensive properties with high monthly rents. If
nonconforming homes are eliminated from transient accommodation the only thing that will happen is
that they will be bought by luxury 2nd or 3rd home buyers and left empty most of the year and NOT increase
housing for anybody. Please do let this happen!
These new regulations will hurt all property's value, the local economy, and the community at large, as
eliminating nonconforming homes will not increase housing but remove jobs for the community peoples:
of cleaners, maintenance, property managers, etc. Please help us not ruin us.
If it is so strongly felt to destroy peoples lives at least please give us some time to address the concerns
and when putting it out on October 1 and not implement it on November 8. This nonconforming
amendment for the 2 years of discussions and review was not part of the bill 121 until the last minute,
that is not just nor fair. Please help us get through this; do not pass the nonconforming this Friday give
us time and other possible options like the below maybe.
At a minimum can you please keep the luxury ocean front houses continue to have unhosted transient
accommodations; maybe by changing those into resort zoning PLEASE!
