The whole island would be overrun by vines and cane grass!! The people of Hawaii would also have less food in production if land owners were not able to cultivate on their lands. The way the draft is written is wrong and not ideal for the island of Hawaii. It is better for the land and its people to be able to cultivate and steward their own lands. Placing more land in conservation would not benefit the environment or the people! It would only give the lands to an outside organization to manage and this is not pono. It is also wrong to have not notified the public about this General Plan. There has not been sufficient notice to the public, such as radio ads, notifications in the newspapers, or signs in high traffic areas. It is not right to only post a notice on the planning website assuming that the public is constantly going on your website for updates. The workshops were not sufficient and there was no sufficient notice to the general public regarding the general plan. This is a possible suit against the planning department as it is law to give the public notice about the general plan and the schedule for meetings and workshops. Before this draft gets approved, it is suggested that the dates and deadlines be extended for public comment and more effort is made to notify the general public. Thank you for these considerations and reservations on approving the General Plan Draft as it is currently written and in need of change. Aloha, Amanda 47,
