Re: Comm. No. 1158/Bill No. 226
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 226, reports as follows:
Bill No. 226, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication No. 1158, dated
October 30, 2024, amends Ordinance No. 24-32, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County
of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
This bill increases revenues in the Federal Grants — National Instant Criminal Background Check
Act Record Improvement Program account ($15,579); and appropriates the same to the National
Instant Criminal Background Check Act Record Improvement Program account for a total
appropriation of $561,339. Funds would be used to enhance firearms registration, record keeping,
and data accessibility.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 226, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
