There are 2 separate issues here: PLEASE VOTE NO on this POSTPONEMENT AND NO ON BILL 169 DRAFT 3! Here's why: 1. There is a lengthy process to have a property acquired with 2% Land Fund monies. It involves approval from the PONC commission, a "yellow book" appraisal process, negotiations with the landowner and the county. This can take months. Look below to see what is really happening. 2. If it is postponed, the 2 new council members (Hustace and Onishi) have no prior knowledge or benefit of the hundreds of hours of testimony, site visits, research, and county staff time to make an informed decision on this matter. VOTE NO! HERE'S WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING: Your YES vote sends this subdivision back to the drawing board to reconsider current conditions, which is the responsible thing to do, NOT allow the development conceived 40 years ago to go forward. The owners are Ming to avoid a removal of the subdivision entitlements. WHY?? IF THE SUBDIVISION ENTITLEMENTS are REMOVED, and IF THE PROPERTY WILL BE PURCHASED BY THE COUNTY, it will be APPRAISED as VACANT LAND for PONC ACQUISITION, not appraised as a potential subdivision, saving the county lots of PONC money, which is TAXPAYER DOLLARS. This subdivision request needs to go back to the drawing board to be updated, THAT is why the Kona community is requesting that after 40 years this subdivision approval be reconsidered in light of current conditions, because. • How will sewage be processed? There are new laws to be considered. • Where will potentially 2,000 additional car trips per day onto the already overloaded Queen Ka'ahumanu Road go with only one ingress and egress? Two ways in and out are now required. • How will runoff from rain and flooding from streets and roads that lead to the ocean be diverted and contained onsite? • Can schools, EMTs, police, hospitals and libraries accommodate 250 home x 3 occupants= 750 more people in that area?
