EX Testimony:
I oppose Bill 169. We can not ignore the organizations that have made clear recommendations against allowing an
extension and developing this property on the FEMA Floodway. We lack the proper infrastructure to handle more
development in this area as well. Furthermore, the said affordable housing is not only NOT guaranteed but also designed
to be in the worst flood area of this parcel, with the gated community above, making this a social justice concern for our
residents. With the last September flash floods that were worse than the 2016 flood, we hope this was a reminder that we
have not experienced anything like the 1971 Store here in Kona.
