This land was first rezoned forty years ago. Now we have the standard developer playbook, with a zombie project passed from owner to owner in a game of developer musical chairs. They keep dangling the promise of affordable housing, like Lucy and Charlie Brown with the football. Will they guarantee in writing they won't come back begging for relief from affordable housing requirements? And that they won't just sell the land after they increase the value bygetting an extension? Kona Vistas follows the all -to -typical damn -the -torpedoes approach: never mind the traffic gridlock, the lack of evacuation routes, the endangered species, the obliteration of native Hawaiian cultural heritage; never mind what the community wants. Opposition has included testimony from numerous residents and a petition that garnered over 1,000 signatures. What about the overloaded wastewater plant that is already polluting the ocean, the inadequate wells for drinking water, and the practically guaranteed flooding the project will cause? Will the developers postobond tocover damages from flooding? Will the County beliable? Don't forget that there are other projects nearby where they can just start building, using previous approvals, adding even more impacts. Five years orsmfrom now, you don't want tosee flooding, car crashes, andtrafficQhd|ockandwonderifyoushou|dhave voted differently. Please vote against Bill 169, and urge the developers to honor the well -considered recommendations from the Cultural Resources Commission and Na Ala Hele. This land should not be lost to yet another bad decision, but should bepreserved for the future asopen space. Thank you for reading, Mary True, Pupeekeo,9G783
