I recently attended a public hearing at the Waikoloa School regarding the time share issue for the
Villages at Aina Le'a, or the old Bridge Puako Project.
During that meeting, it occurred to me that there are two licensed and legal helipads on both the
north and south sides of that project. The north side helipad is located on the grounds ~f the
Mauna Lani Resort and is operated by Mauna Kea Helicopters, Inc. The south side helipad is at
the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and the Waikoloa Road and is operated by Blue
Hawaiian Helicopters.
I have heard no mention of these helipads in meetings that I have attended nor seen any
information regarding these helipads in anything pertaining to the Villages at Aina Le'a .
My past experience like this is that the developer ignores this type of issue, unless it comes up.
The developer lets the new land owners fight out the issue later. This issue needs to be addressed
now.
My helipad is my life's blood. Without it, my company would fail. It is vital to my business and
it's existing contracts that it remains open.
It is my hope through this letter, that the developer makes reference to these existing helipads.
1-hat potential buyers be made aware that they exist and have Tor many years. They play a
valuable role in the true economic base on the Big Island, which is tourism.
