J�TVroi N�!t7 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />�ro•oF•N�a+ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 25 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF <br />KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC. TO REPLACE A DETERIORATED <br />CANOE PLAY FIXTURE AT THE HAROLD H. HIGASHIHARA PARK. <br />WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. (LCKCFI) is a <br />501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service <br />projects and activities that meet the needs of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Harold H. Higashihara Park is a County facility that consists of a <br />baseball diamond, basketball, pickleball and tennis courts, picnic area, and a community -built <br />children's playground; and <br />WHEREAS, LCKCFI formed the Friends of Higashihara Park and has been in an <br />agreement with the County of Hawaii since June 2021 to co -manage and maintain this park; and <br />WHEREAS, LCKCFI is requesting funds to purchase wood, screws and fasteners, <br />concrete, wood weatherproofing, and wood stain to replace a deteriorated canoe play fixture at <br />the Harold H. Higashihara Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports LCKCFI and its <br />continued efforts to provide a safe and clean park for Hawaii Island residents and visitors to <br />enjoy; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to LCKCFI to replace a deteriorated canoe play fixture at <br />the Harold H. Higashihara Park. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
