HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 015 Draft 01 2024-2026A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NĀ MAMO HAʻAHEO
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES TO CONDUCT A SERIES OF LEI-MAKING CLASSES.
WHEREAS, Nā Mamo Haʻaheo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes culture and traditions of the various ethnicities in Hawaiʻi with an emphasis on perpetuating Hawaiian culture
through its programs that educate participants in the arts of lei-making and pāʻū horseback riding; and
WHEREAS, Nā Mamo Haʻaheo is partnering with local lei-makers to conduct a series of lei-making classes, “An Art Series Using Hawaiian Plants,” which will be scheduled for multiple dates
starting from January through February 2025; and
WHEREAS, these classes perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through lei-making and creating art using flora and fauna found on Hawai‘i Island; and
WHEREAS, the participants will gain knowledge about the entire lei-making process, thereby contributing to the preservation and continuation of lei-making traditions; and
WHEREAS, Nā Mamo Haʻaheo is requesting funds to assist with expenses for facility rentals, permit fees, food and refreshments, lei-making practitioners, and lei-making supplies and materials;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide programs, projects, or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Nā Mamo Haʻaheo to assist with expenses to conduct a series of lei-making classes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
