A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC. TO REPLACE A DETERIORATED CANOE PLAY FIXTURE AT THE HAROLD H. HIGASHIHARA PARK.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. (LCKCFI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and activities
that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Harold H. Higashihara Park is a County facility that consists of a baseball diamond, basketball, pickleball and tennis courts, picnic area, and a community-built children’s
playground; and
WHEREAS, LCKCFI formed the Friends of Higashihara Park and has been in an agreement with the County of Hawaiʻi since June 2021 to co-manage and maintain this park; and
WHEREAS, LCKCFI is requesting funds to purchase wood, screws and fasteners, concrete, wood weatherproofing, and wood stain to replace a deteriorated canoe play fixture at the Harold
H. Higashihara Park; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports LCKCFI and its continued efforts to provide a safe and clean park for Hawaiʻi Island residents and visitors to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to LCKCFI to replace a deteriorated canoe play fixture at the Harold H. Higashihara Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
