Re: Operating Budget
The County of Hawaii has been awarded $318,240 in federally derived funds from the
Department of the Attorney General, Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center through the
National Instant Criminal Background Check Act Record Improvement Program. These
funds will be used to enhance the department's Records Section to improve accuracy,
quality, timeliness, immediate accessibility, and integration of national systems of
criminal history and related records.
Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these funds. Also enclosed
is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $318,240
grant.

This is a request to enter into an agreement with the Department of the Attorney General, Hawaii Criminal
Justice Data Center for Police Department Records improvement.
Please create an account to appropriate $318,240.00 for the period of January 1, 2025 to December 31,
2026.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Department of the Attorney General, Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center awarded this funding through
the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP)
National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP).
Funding from this agreement will enhance the the department's Records Section to improve in the accuracy,
quality, timeliness, immediate accessiblity, and integration of national systems of criminal history and related
records.
