Brilhante, Jr. ("Mr. Brilhante") as Managing Director for the County of Hawaii, pursuant to Section 6-1.2 of the Hawaii County Charter. This appointment was effective at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 2, 2024. Mr. Brilhante is an experienced attorney with many years of government service. In 1989, prior to attending law school, Mr. Brilhante was employed with the County of Hawaii Fire Department where he served as a firefighter, EMT and acting Fire Inspector during a ten plus year career. In 2007, he was appointed Deputy Corporation Counsel in the Office of the Corporation Counsel. In 2015, he was appointed Assistant Corporation Counsel. In 2016, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Department of Human Resources. In 2017, he was appointed Director of the Department of Human Resources. Prior to his roles with the County, he served in a myriad of private and government attorney roles, including his role as Assistant Regional Counsel for the San Francisco Social Security Administration and Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii. Mr. Brilhante will serve a term co-terminus with my tenure, which will end on December 4, 2028. Pursuant to Rule 5(6)(a) of the Rules of Procedures and Organization of the Council of the County of Hawaii, I respectfully request that this nomination be placed on the next available Committee meeting.
