CERTIFICATE OF RESULTS
In compliance with Section I 1-156, Hawaii Revised Statutes,1, .Ion Henricks,
County Clerk, County of Hawaii, in the capacity of the chief election officer of the
County pursuant to section 3-6(b)(3) of the Hawaii County Charter, do hereby certify
that three proposed amendments to the Hawaii County Charter were submitted to the
voters of the County of Hawaii on November 5, 2024.1 hereby further certify that two of
the three of the proposed amendments were duly approved by a majority of voters voting
on said amendments:
Proposal 1 County Council Vacancy in Office
Shall the Hawaii County Charter be amended to provide that any vacancy
on the County Council that occurs or exists after a person was duly elected
to fill that seat for the upcoming Council term shall be filled by that duly
elected successor for the remainder of the unexpired term?

Proposal 2 Mayoral Appointment of Department Heads
Shall the Hawaii County Charter be amended to require the Mayor to appoint
department heads within 30 days of the start of each mayoral term and within 60 days for
any vacancy in office that occurs during the mayoral term?

Proposal 3 Term of Office for the Cost of Government Commission
REJECTED
Shall the Hawaii County Charter be amended to increase the term length
for members of the Cost of Government Commission from eleven to
twenty-two months and extend the deadline for the Commission to submit
its report from eleven months after appointment to twenty months after
appointment?
