RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, HAWAI‘I CRIMINAL JUSTICE DATA CENTER PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE
HAWAI‘I COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Police Department wishes for the County to enter into an agreement between the Department of the Attorney General, Hawai‘i Criminal Justice Data Center and
the County of Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, the Department of the Attorney General, Hawai‘i Criminal Justice Data Center has authorized funds through the National Instant Criminal Background Check Act Record Improvement
Program to be provided to the Hawai‘i County Police Department for the purpose of enhancing the department’s Records Section to improve accuracy, quality, timeliness, immediate accessibility,
and integration of national systems of criminal history and related records; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant
to those powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, that in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i is authorized to execute,
on behalf of the County, an agreement and related
documents with the Department of the Attorney General, Hawai‘i Criminal Justice Data Center to enable the County to receive funds as specified above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Finance Department and to the Hawai‘i
County Police Department.
