COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII OF RESOLUTION NO. 40 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NA MAMO HA'AHEO TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES TO CONDUCT A SERIES OF LEI -MAKING CLASSES. WHEREAS, Nd Mamo Ha'aheo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes culture and traditions of the various ethnicities in Hawaii with an emphasis on perpetuating Hawaiian culture through its programs that educate participants in the arts of lei -making and pd'ii horseback riding; and WHEREAS, Na Mamo Ha'aheo is partnering with local lei -makers to conduct a series of lei -making classes to be scheduled between January and February 2025; and WHEREAS, these classes perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through traditional lei -making using flora and fauna found on Hawaii Island; and WHEREAS, the participants will gain knowledge about the entire lei -making process, including the picking and preparing of various material, thereby contributing to the preservation of lei -making traditions; and WHEREAS, Nd Mamo Ha'aheo is requesting funds to assist with expenses for facility permit fees, refreshments, informational printing expenses, lei -making practitioners, and lei - making supplies and materials, such as twine, clippers, lei needles, flowers, foliage, etc.; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide programs, projects, or activities in a drug -free and alcohol -free environment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that Contingency Relief funds from Council District I will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Na Mamo Ha'aheo to assist with expenses to conduct a series of lei -making classes. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
