Al.oha County Council Members,
I am writing to respectfu[Ly request your approvaL of resoLution 14-25 to pay for the use of the Kona TroLLey
by the West Hawai'i County Band in the recent Kona Christmas Parade. We thank Council. Member Inaba
for sponsoring this resolution.
The band is honored and pteased to participate in community parades, but is no longer able to march as
a unit. Some of us are getting up in years. Many of our members can no tonger march up to tempo, while
playing and carrying a large band instrument. Without transportation of this type, we woutcl have to
decline the parade opportunity for safety reasons.
The non-profit anciltary of the band, West Hawai'i County Band Friends, accepts donations at our
concerts, but these are quite modest, and would not be enough to cover the cost of the trolLey.
