Comments: To all council members: I cannot believe that you would vote against replacing the
police department's radio system! This is an outrage! Is Public safety of any concern to any of
you? The existing system could go offline at any time, and what are the police officers supposed
to do when that happens? Are we going to wait until someone gets killed, either in the line of
duty, or a citizen is not assisted in time and killed due to your negligence? This is an
unacceptable decision and it needs to be reconsidered. As a taxpaying citizen, I do not want my
money going to bike paths, road improvements, or the like. I wnat my money going towards the
new system for the Police Department in order that they may serve and protect with all necessary
equipment. A radio system that works is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Did we not plan for this
expense years ago as this system is 25 years old? What is wrong with this picture? Do we play
politics too much, and not think
of public safety first anymore? You all had better rethink you priorities immediately. This is not a
question of money, but a question of public safety. What is going on with you people who we
have put into office? Has everyone put money before safety? What a sad state of affairs this
county is in if we cannot even plan for this type of challenge. I request a response and would like
it in writing.
