Re: Resolution to grant an easement

The County of Hawaii owns the real property parcel designated by Tax Map Key (3) 6-8-
041:023, located at Waikoloa, District of South Kohala, County and State of Hawaii. The
Hawaii Electric Company, Inc. ("HELCO") has requested an easement from the County of
Hawaii that will allow for the installation of vacuum switch equipment.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Director of Finance to grant easement to HELCO in
accordance with sections 2-111(2) and 2-112, Hawaii County Code at a cost of $590.00 for
rights of easement for Easement E-16.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare County Council submittal authorizing the Finance Director to grant an easement for utility purposes
to Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc. (HELCO) over tax map key (3) 6-8-041:023 (por.)..
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The developer of the Keolalani Subdivision in Waikoloa has constructed vacuum switch equipment on Tax
Map Key: (3) 6-8-041:023 (por.). HELCO requires a term easement to maintain the facilites on the County
owned parcel. The term easement will be for period of 65 years and was valued at $590.00 by an
independent appraisal. HELCO has already reimbursed the County for appraisal report costs of $3,664.92.
