Action 4 Animals Hawaii Achieves Incredible Milestone: 780 Animals Saved in 2024
Big Island, Hawaii — Action 4 Animals Hawaii (A4A) is proud to announce beating it's 2024
goals by finding homes for a total of 780 animals. This milestone underscores the
organization's unwavering commitment to rescuing and rehoming animals in need, always with
a focus on those facing the greatest challenges.
In 2024 alone 644 cats and 136 dogs lives have been saved, and new pet parents' lives have
been improved! Additionally, 31 dogs were flown to the mainland where they will have a better
chance of adoption. Almost all our dogs and 40% of our adopted cats were originally
transferred from County of Hawaii Animal Control and Protection, reducing the County's cost of
care and saving them from possible euthanasia.
Action 4 Animals Hawaii also continued its critical work managing 13 cat colonies, providing
TNVR services (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return), as well as daily feeding, to help maintain
healthy populations and reduce island disease.
With the support of over 60 dedicated volunteers, A4A has made a positive impact on the local
animal community. Rehoming occurred via private adoption, the Action 4 Animals Hawaii web
site (wwwaction4animalshawaijiij com), as well through our 45 adoption events. We maintain a
strong partnership with Hilo Petco which hosts the cat cubby program.
With a total of 1,494 cats and 208 dogs saved in just 3-1/2 years, Action 4 Animals Hawaii has
solidified its reputation as a leading force for animal rescue and welfare on the east side of
Hawaii Island.
