RESOLUTION NO.54 25
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I DISTRICT 4
LITTLE LEAGUE, INC., TO PURCHASE A PORTABLE PITCHING MOUND FOR
LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL GAMES IN WEST HAWAI`I.
WHEREAS, Little League in the State of Hawaii is currently divided into five districts:
District 1 (Windward Oahu and Kaua`i), District 3 (Ldna`i, Maui and Moloka`i), District 4
(Hawai`i Island), District 6 (South O`ahu), and District 7 (West O`ahu); and
WHEREAS, Hawaii District 4 Little League, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
under Little League Baseball, Inc., that oversees the Little League baseball and softball
programs for youth ages 4 to 16 on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii District 4 Little League, Inc., is in need of an 18-foot diameter,
portable pitching mound, which will be used for Little League baseball games, as well as training
and skill development, at the Old Kona Airport Beach Park in West Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii District 4 Little League, Inc., is requesting funds to purchase a
portable pitching mound for Little League baseball games, which includes a shipping charge to
have it shipped from the mainland; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports Hawaii District 4 Little
League, Inc., and its continued efforts to provide safe activities for Hawaii Island youth to
enjoy; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawaii District 4 Little League, Inc., to purchase a
portable pitching mound for Little League baseball games in West Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
