Of M, t <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I t i• STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />�}• : Mi Mod;•*\ <br />�Tf•OF •HF'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. -`► <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF <br />KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC. TO ASSIST THE KONAWAENA HIGH <br />SCHOOL LEO CLUB WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH <br />EFFORTS. <br />WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. (LCKCFI) is a <br />501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service <br />projects and activities that meet the needs of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club is the youth branch of the Lions <br />Club of Kona; and <br />WHEREAS, Since August 2019, the Konawaena High School Leo Club has been <br />partnering with the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District to educate the community on the <br />fragility of our Kona landscape and what the public must do to protect our land for future <br />generations; and <br />WHEREAS, the LCKCFI is requesting funds to assist the Konawaena High School Leo <br />Club with expenses for social media and radio advertisements to address soil depletion and land <br />degradation in the Kona districts; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br />support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to <br />build skills and capacity in the agricultural community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation <br />Inc. to assist the Konawaena High School Leo Club with expenses for its educational outreach <br />efforts. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai` i hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
