A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC. TO ASSIST THE KONAWAENA HIGH SCHOOL LEO CLUB WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EFFORTS.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. (LCKCFI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and activities
that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club is the youth branch of the Lions Club of Kona; and
WHEREAS, Since August 2019, the Konawaena High School Leo Club has been partnering with the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District to educate the community on the fragility of our
Kona landscape and what the public must do to protect our land for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the LCKCFI is requesting funds to assist the Konawaena High School Leo Club with expenses for social media and radio advertisements to address soil depletion and land degradation
in the Kona districts; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to build skills
and capacity in the agricultural community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. to assist the Konawaena High School Leo Club with expenses for its educational outreach efforts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
