RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency wishes to enter into an agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency;
and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has authorized $1,000,000 to be provided to the County of Hawai‘i Civil Defense
Agency; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used towards the Rural Emergency Medical Communications Demonstration Project, which focuses on enhancing lifeline capabilities in rural communities; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant
to those powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, that in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i is authorized to execute,
on behalf of the County, an agreement and related
documents with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to receive funds as specified above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Finance Department and to the Civil Defense
Agency.
