SUBJECT: MOHOULI STREET EXTENSION PROJECT
I am writing this letter to you, since this project is in your district It is my understanding
that this project is currently advertised for bid, and that bid opening is scheduled for later
this month. I am in support of this project and am very pleased to see it progress to this
stage. However, I have heard there are a number of people stirring up opposition to this
project for the expressed purpose of "killing" it.
I really don't understand how a road that would give the people in the Kaumana and
Piihonua area a more direct route to the Hilo airport as well as the Kanoelehua Industrial
Area and Waiakea Commercial Center (Wal-Mart, Prince Kuhio Plaza, etc.) is in
opposition to this project. Perhaps it is again the noisy minority and the NIMBY group
that aze trying to put a stop to an obviously beneficial project.
I am asking for your efforts to ensure the construction of this project. The people in your
district will thank you for it once they experience the merits of this road extension.
Furthermore, the funds for construction will be most welcome during these difficult
economic times. Thank you for your consideration in this very important matter.
