Position: Support of Clayton Honma
Dear Chair Jeri Kagiwada, Vice Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and Members of the
Committee,
I am writing to express my strong support for the appointment of Clayton Honma as the Director
of Parks and Recreation. Having grown up in the same community of Pa`auilo, I have had the
privilege of knowing Clayton for many years. His integrity, dedication, and commitment to our
community have been evident throughout his life and career.
I also had the opportunity to work closely with Clayton during his tenure as the Parks and
Recreation Director under former Mayor Billy Kenoi, while I served on the County Council.
Clayton proved to be an exceptional leader who was always accessible to the community. His
professionalism, kindness, and ability to navigate complex and challenging issues were
exemplary.
Clayton's deep understanding of the needs of our communities, coupled with his collaborative
approach, makes him an ideal choice for this position. He has consistently demonstrated his
ability to listen, engage, and provide thoughtful solutions that reflect the best interests of our
residents.
I wholeheartedly urge the Committee to confirm Clayton Honma's appointment as Director of
Parks and Recreation. His leadership and dedication will undoubtedly benefit Hawaii County and
its people.
