Position: Support of William Brilhante, Jr.
Dear Chair Jen Kagiwada, Vice Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and Members of the Committee,
I am writing in strong support of the appointment of William "Bill" Brilhante, Jr. as the Managing
Director for Hawaii County.
I had the privilege of working with Bill during his tenure as the Director of Human Resources for the
County of Hawaii. During that time, i witnessed his professionalism, composure, and unwavering
respect for those he worked with. Bill's calm demeanor, thoughtful approach to problem -solving, and
ability to foster collaboration made him an invaluable leader in his previous role.
As Managing Director, Bill will not only serve as the primary management aide to Mayor Kimo
Alameda, overseeing the administrative functions of all county departments, agencies, boards, and
commissions, but he will also work closely with communities throughout Hawaii County. This dual
responsibility requires a leader with exceptional organizational skills, the ability to build strong
relationships, and a deep understanding of the diverse needs of our island's communities.
Bill's experience in managing complex systems, coupled with his ability to engage with individuals and
groups in a respectful and approachable manner, uniquely qualifies him for this role. His commitment to
transparency, collaboration, and excellence will ensure that he serves as a bridge between the county
government and the people it serves.
Mayor Kimo Alameda has made an excellent choice in appointing Bill Brilhante as Managing Director
am confident that Bill will excel in this position, fostering a spirit of unity and progress across Hawaii
County.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my strong support for this appointment.
Sincerely,
