No. 39/Bill No. 11 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawaii TIME: 5:23 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Bill No. 11, reports as follows: Bill No. 11, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, via Communication No. 39, dated November 26, 2024, amends Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), by changing the district classification from single-family residential 10,000 square feet (RS-10) to industrial — commercial mixed — 20,000 square feet (MCX-20) at City of Hilo, South Hilo, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-2-036:065 (Applicant: Nimr Y. Tamimi) (Area: 22,900 square feet). The Windward Planning Commission forwards its favorable recommendation for the requested change of zone, which would allow the applicant to expand its office space by converting an existing residential dwelling on the subject property into an office building. This property is located at 781 Laukapu Street. Planning Director Jeffrey Darrow and the applicant, Nimr Y. Tamimi, were present in Chambers. Mr. Darrow provided a PowerPoint presentation regarding this change of zone application. Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi commented in favor of the change of zone. He stated that this project will allow for sidewalks and the widening of the road in the surrounding area for pedestrians and businesses and asked for the support of his colleagues. Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 11, and recommends its passage on first reading. kki AYES NOES ABS EX GALIMBA X HUSTACE X INABA X KAGIWADA X KANEALI`I-KLEINFELDER X KIERKIEWICZ X KIMBALL X ONISHI X VILLEGAS X Respectfully submitted, COMMITTEE ON LEGISLATIVE APPROVALS AND ACQUISITIONS H ATHER L.
