Re: Comm. No. 69/Bill No. 13
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 13, reports as follows:
Bill No. 13, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 69, dated December 18, 2024, amends Ordinance No. 24-32, as amended, the Operating Budget
for the County of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
This bill appropriates revenues in the Federal Grants — Hawai`i County Police Department Pedestrian
and Bicycle Safety Grant account ($41,792); and appropriates the same to the Hawaii County Police
Department Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant account. Funds would be used to conduct
community engagement and enforcement activities related to pedestrian safety.
Traffic Safety Coordinator Torey Kellner provided background on this matter.
Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz thanked Mr. Kellner for all his hard work in acquiring
these funds for the County.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 13, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
