Re: Comm. No. 34/Bill No. 9
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 9, reports as follows:
Bill No. 9, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 34, dated November 29, 2024, amends Ordinance No. 24-32, as amended, the Operating
Budget for the County of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
This bill increases revenues in the Federal Grants — Hawai`i County Police Department 2023
Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs Grant account ($48,764); and appropriates the same to the
Hawaii County Police Department 2023 Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs Grant account, for
a total appropriation of $628,764. Funds would be used for training, education, enforcement, and
community collaboration to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries.
Traffic Safety Coordinator Torey Keltner provided background on this matter.
There was no additional discussion on this matter.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 9, and recommends its
passage on first reading.
