Re: Comm. No. 69/Res. No. 48-25
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 48-25, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 48-25, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 69, dated December 18, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Office, pursuant to Hawaii Revised
Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to the Hawaii Police Department.
This resolution allows for the receipt of $41,792 of federally -derived funds to conduct community
engagement and enforcement activities related to pedestrian safety.
Traffic Safety Coordinator Torey Keltner provided background on this matter.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized
to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the State of Hawai `i
Department of Transportation for grant funds as described above.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 48-25, and
recommends its adoption.
