REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 67/Res. No. 46-25
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 46-25, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 46-25, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 67, dated December 18, 2024, approves the award of funds to various nonprofit organizations
for programs addressing housing and homelessness by the Office of Housing and Community
Development.
This resolution proposes 15 grant awards to 9 different nonprofit organizations for a total of
$10,500,000 in funding that was derived from Residential Tier Two property tax revenues.
Housing Administrator Kehaulani Costa, Assistant Housing Administrator Keiko Mercado, Real
Property Tax Administrator Lisa Miura, and Deputy Corporation Counsel Sylvia Wan were present
in chambers for questions.
Ms. Costa and Ms. Mercado provided background on this measure. Multiple members commented in
support of it. Committee Members raised questions regarding accountability and reporting methods to
be utilized this fiscal year and requested updates on funds spent.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 46-25, and
recommends its adoption.
