REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 29/Res. No. 31-25
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 31-25, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 31-25, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 29, dated November 29, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawaii Department of Agriculture, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7.
This resolution allows for the receipt of $135,000 to assist coffee farmers by offsetting the cost of the
insecticide used to control the Coffee Berry Borer and/or approved fungicides to control Coffee Leaf
Rust.
Economic Development Specialist Glenn Sako provided background on this matter.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to
execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the State of Hawaii
Department of Agriculture for funding as described above.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 31-25, and
recommends its adoption.
