RESOLUTION NO. 64 25
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I
FOR ITS 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY EVENT IN WEST HAWAI`I.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed to
teaching elementary, middle, and high school students how to make responsible decisions to help
lead a safe and healthy life; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting a West Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate
the graduation of West Hawaii students from grades fifth through eighth who complete the 10-
week Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for May 2025; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to purchase pizza and other food as
well as paper goods and supplies for making shave ice for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day event; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth
programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in an alcohol -
and drug -free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for its 2025 D.A.R.E. Day event in West
Hawai `i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
