'': 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I ISLAND <br />HIV/AIDS FOUNDATION TO PURCHASE COMPUTER EQUIPMENT FOR ITS <br />KONA OFFICE. <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation (HIHAF), doing business as <br />Kumukahi Health + Wellness, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those <br />affected by HIV/AIDS (human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency <br />syndrome) to maximize their quality of life and to ending the spread of HIV through multiple <br />prevention modalities including HIV testing, syringe access services, education, and outreach; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, HIHAF is the only HIV/AIDS service organization in Hawaii County and <br />is requesting assistance to upgrade the computer workstations at its Kona office, which will <br />enable staff to have seamless access to databases, enrollment programs, and electronic health <br />records, as well as providing remote workers from Hilo the ability to connect their laptops to the <br />network with a single integrated cord; and <br />WHEREAS, HIHAF is requesting funds to purchase monitors, laptop docking stations, <br />and cordless keyboards for its Kona office; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that promote <br />education and well-being in a drug -free and alcohol -free environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation, doing business as <br />Kumukahi Health + Wellness, to purchase computer equipment for its Kona office. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
