GG 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA <br />SKATEPARK ASSOCIATION FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS KEIKI BOWL <br />PROJECT. <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Skatepark Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to build and maintain a public Skatepark in Kona and to host special public <br />events and workshops related to board sports and other youth sports in Kona; and <br />WHEREAS, skateparks have been proven to be a positive, healthy alternative sport for <br />youth, promoting self-confidence, self-esteem, and physical fitness, as well as serving as a <br />creative space for artistic expression for people of all ages and backgrounds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Skatepark Association is moving forward with the next phase to <br />expand the Kona Skatepark Keiki Bowl and walk-in section, originally built in 2012 at the Old <br />Kona Airport Beach Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Skatepark Association is requesting funds for construction <br />materials and supplies such as concrete, base rock, rebar, plywood, wire, argon mix, metal <br />stakes, and steel tubing for the expansion of the Keiki Bowl project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports the Kona Skatepark <br />Association and its continued efforts to provide a safe and clean Skatepark for Hawaii Island <br />residents and visitors to enjoy; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Kona Skatepark Association for expenses relating <br />to its Keiki Bowl project. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
