A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI‘I ISLAND HIV/AIDS
FOUNDATION TO PURCHASE COMPUTER EQUIPMENT FOR ITS KONA OFFICE.
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation (HIHAF), doing business as Kumukahi Health + Wellness, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those affected by
HIV/AIDS (human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) to maximize their quality of life and to ending the spread of HIV through multiple prevention modalities
including HIV testing, syringe access services, education, and outreach; and
WHEREAS, HIHAF is the only HIV/AIDS service organization in Hawai‘i County and is requesting assistance to upgrade the computer workstations at its Kona office, which will enable staff
to have seamless access to databases, enrollment programs, and electronic health records, as well as providing remote workers from Hilo the ability to connect their laptops to the network
with a single integrated cord; and
WHEREAS, HIHAF is requesting funds to purchase monitors, laptop docking stations, and cordless keyboards for its Kona office; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that promote education and well-being in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Hawai‘i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation, doing business as Kumukahi Health + Wellness, to purchase computer equipment for its Kona office.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
