RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT AWARD OF $2,000 FROM BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SOCIETY TO THE ANIMAL CONTROL AND PROTECTION AGENCY.
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai‘i has been selected to receive a $2,000 grant award from Best Friends Animal Society, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the
U.S. Internal Revenue Code; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used towards travel expenses for an Animal Control and Protection Agency staff member to attend the 2025 Best Friends National Conference; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Animal Control and Protection Agency recommends the acceptance of this grant award; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this grant award.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Animal Control and Protection Agency and
the Finance Department.
