Kimo Alameda, dated January 2, 2025, requests the Council's review and confirmation of Greg Yamada to the Police Commission. Executive Assistant to the Mayor Micah Alameda was present in the Kona Chambers to introduce Mr. Yamada, who was also present in the Kona Chambers, to the Committee. Mr. Yamada was formerly a Police Officer, and both he and Mr. Alameda shared how important it is to have someone with direct experience serve on this Commission. Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi requested that the Mayor's Office notify the Council Member for that district regarding fixture nominations from their districts prior to Council meetings. Committee Members Ashley Kierkiewicz and Michelle Galimba spoke in favor of the appointment. Pursuant to Article VII, Chapter 2, Section 7-2.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Police Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
