Over the past decade, our smaLL but determined community has raised $2.5 mil.Lion and dedicated countess voLunteer hours to a cause that matters not just to us but to the future of our environment: saving Puakd Reef by imptementing a sewer system. For the past 11years, | have personally worked OOthis project, drivenbvthebeUofthmtoUrnaof--oneof Hawaii's natural. treasures —deserves protection. I've seen firsthand the dr8i8S8efforts 0four residents, the Puak6 for Reefs organization, and our many partners who share this vision. Now, we find ourselves at acritical crossroads. This administration has the unique opportunity to turn years of preparation into action. I strongly support the confirmation of Mr. Segawa as the Director of Environmental Management, but only if hmcommits to partnering with our community and the organizations that have laid the groundwork for this project.VVe need a clear, unwavering commitment to implementing a sewer system in Puak6 during his tenure.
