Dear Hawaii County Council Members,
I write to you as a property owner, and also as part of the Puako community which has donated $2.5M
and countless volunteer hours over the past decade to save Puako Reef by promoting
implementation of a sewer system in Puako.
Growing up from youth on the Big Island, I have witnessed the radical decay of reef quality oak and
'followed the numerous research and studies about the causes.
NOW is the time to make a sewer in Puako happen! THIS is the administration that can make it happen.
I support the confirmation of Mr. Segawa as DEM only if he commits to partnering with the Puako
community, the Puako for Reefs organization, and the many partners it has developed through the
years to implement a sewer system in Puako during his tenure.
