Subject: Mayoral Nominees for various posts
Aloha council members,
Members of the public have been calling community attention to some potentially problematic
nominees whose appointments you will decide. For the following nominees, it's incumbent upon you to
continue to ask the hard questions so that you, and the public you represent, can feet confident that the
best possible people will go on to fulfill the critical roles these nominees will have before them as head of
agencies that decide the health of our people, our island, and the technology we depend upon as we
move into the future.
Comm. 46 Wesley Segawa — Director of Environmental Management (DEM)
Please ask questions about his preparedness and apparent lack of experience, conflicts of
interest (his company's $4million contract with the county), and his position on public -private
partnerships. How will he address the kinds of conflicts and missteps that occurred with our last
planning director for whom conflicts of interest were de riguer?
Comm. 45 Corey Stone — Director of Information Technology (DIT):
Please ask questions regarding his lack of experience.
Both nominees appear to be less than prepared for the jobs for which they've been nominated with
Mr Segawa's background possibly worse than just lack of experience. Questions of understanding
and experience need to be asked and answered with honesty, clarity, and sincerity before either is
allowed to take their important seats.
Mahalo for helping us all do the homework needed to make the best choices for our future.
Best regards,
Janice palms-glennie
