Dear Hawaii County Council Members,
I am part of the Puako community which has donated $2.5M and countless volunteer hours over the past decade to
save Puako Reef by implementing a sewer system in Puako. NOW isthe time, and THIS is the administration that
can make it happen. | support the confirmation of Mr. Sagavva as OEK8 only if he commits to partnering with the
Puako community, the Puako for Reefs organization, and the many partners it has developed through the years, to
implement sewer system in Puak0 during his tenure.
I first came to Puako in January 1977, shortly after my parents bought their Puako Beach Condo. |n2O18|bought
the unit from my parents. In 1977Ule reef was amazingly vibrant with life. The variety offish was amazing, as was
the variety ofcorals. In 1977 1 could see octopus, eels, sea slugs, yellow tangs, humus, moorish idols, pencil fish,
and huge schools oftiny fish, etc. everywhere |turned. |nthe intervening years | saw the decline inreef life. Now |
see anoccasional sea slug, and ofew tiny fish. The coral are colorless. Gone are the tang, the hurnu.the octopi
and the pencil fish. |ornsurprised that vve still see 8Smany honuaevvedo.
